Carpe Diem: Savoring

Second of a delightful series of 6 incredibly insightful and inspirational posts (ha!):

Savoring

To avoid worrying about the future and overanalyzing the past, focus on the present. We spend the majority of our lives in the past or future and forget to savor the moment we're in. Interestingly enough, most negative thoughts concern the past or future. Think about it: living in the past is usually tied to regret, and constantly thinking about the future is usually tied to worry. Call me crazy, but neither one of these feelings are very desirable.

So why not just enjoy whatever you're doing at the moment? Make a conscious effort to relish or luxuriate in whatever you're doing - stalking someone's blog, driving home from the grocery store, drinking lemonade, taking a shower, or doing laundry. I think you'll be surprised at your ability to find happiness in any situation, no matter how mundane or seemingly horrible.
